Duration: 52 min
Time: 30.04.2024., golden hour before sunset
Materials: 100-year-old piece of glass
Action: slowly and calmly clean a piece of glass with what is available in nature

The perspective of the world requires occasional cleansing – for a clearer view and more serene revelations about what one has observed. This was the third piece in a series of performances that I plan to enact sporadically throughout my lifetime, moments when it feels necessary to refresh my worldview, in places that seem relevant to the contextual circumstances.
During each performance, I clean a piece of glass that belonged to my mother, grandmother, and grandfather. Presently, it rests on my balcony, gathering street dust, linden pollen, rain stains, bird droppings, and ashes from my friends’ cigarettes over time. This glass has borne witness to a multitude of experiences, holding the narratives of three generations and bearing the imprints of our lifetimes’ struggles. It conceals and reveals the vantage point of the world that I carry with emotions ranging from gratitude and pride to moments of despair and anger.
